If you require a procedure, an estimate of surgical fees is provided PRIOR to surgery. This estimate is to be read and signed by the patient, and our staff will be happy to assist you with any queries.
Estimates of surgical fees are based off various factors such as whether the patient has Medicare benefits, private health insurance, and the patient’s individual situation. Your private health fund and/or Medicare may cover all or some of the cost of surgery, depending on your level of cover with your health fund.
There may be an additional cost to be paid by you (commonly known as the GAP payment) for the surgical services provided, and we advise that you contact your health fund to confirm what you are covered for. This is to ensure you are aware of any additional financial expense you may incur before proceeding.
It is possible to select private colorectal surgical services as a non-insured patient, but this will be entirely at your own expense. Medicare will cover some of the doctor’s fees, and this will be outlined on your estimate of surgical fees.
