Cameron was born in South Africa but raised and educated in the United Kingdom where he attended Medical School at the University of Nottingham. His residency years were spent in London based hospitals before immigrating to Australia in 2013 where he underwent advanced surgical training based in Sydney. In 2020 he completed his fellowship in General Surgery. Further subspecialist colorectal training was obtained, via the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand, at Royal North Shore and Prince of Wales Hospitals in Sydney, and The Tweed and John Flynn Hospitals in Gold Coast.
He is now a consultant surgeon providing emergency and elective surgical services encompassing all colorectal pathologies, as well as hernia and general surgery, with a focus on minimally invasive techniques including the Da Vinci Robotic platform.
Cameron actively contributes to surgical research and has several publications in peer reviewed journals as well as numerous international presentations at Colorectal and General Surgical conferences. He has a keen interest in medical and surgical education, having previously worked as a conjoint and senior lecturer at the University of Sydney, the University of NSW, Bond and Griffith Universities.
Outside of medicine, Cameron is a keen runner and swimmer, having competed in several marathons and open water swims. He is also a big fan of Rugby Union having played to a high level at university.
