Anal Abscess
An anal abscess occurs when bacteria lodge in the small glands that are normally present between the inner and outer layers of the anal sphincter muscle.
Anal Pain
These include anal warts, skin tags, haemorrhoids, fissure, fistula, anal cancer, Bowen’s disease and generalised skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis which may also affect the perianal skin.
Bowel Cancer
Bowel cancer has become the most frequently occurring cancer (other than skin) in Australia. One Australian in 12 is at risk of developing bowel cancer if it is not prevented.

Diverticulitis
Diverticular disease is a very common condition in the Western World. It is not really a "disease" and a better term for the condition is diverticulosis.
Fissure

Fistula
An anal fistula is a communication or tunnel between the internal lining of the anal canal and the skin outside the anus.
Haemorrhoids
Haemorrhoids are engorged blood vessels covered by the lining of the lower rectum just above the anal canal. As a haemorrhoid enlarges, it bulges into the anal canal and may eventually protrude at the edge of the anus (prolapse).
Hernia
A hernia is a weakness or hole in the stomach muscle wall through which stomach contents protrude causing a bulge. The protruding contents push out a pocket of the abdominal lining or peritoneum through the weakness forming the hernia.
Incontinence
In Australia, about 15% of the population has faecal incontinence. Although men and women are affected in equal proportions, women tend to have a more severe form of the condition.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a condition that affects the large bowel or colon. This is the part of the digestive track where waste matter is changed from liquid to formed state, then stored.
Polyps
Bowel polyps are small growths on the lining of the bowel wall. The large majority of polyps do not become bowel cancer but essentially all bowel cancers arise from the polyps.
Proctitis
Proctitis is an inflammation of the rectum that causes urgency and frequency of bowel actions, bleeding, and may be associated with the discharge of mucus or pus.
Rectal Bleeding
Rectal bleeding refers to the presence of red blood from the anus, often mixed with faeces and occasionally seen as blood clots.
Rectal Prolapse
Rectal Prolapse occurs when the rectum turns itself inside out and comes out through the anus.
Ulcerative colitis
