He performs minimally invasive colorectal and hernia repair surgeries using endoscopic, laparoscopic and robotic techniques.
Dr Lam graduated from medical school at the University of Sydney (1991-1996) and completed his General Surgery training at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, obtaining his Fellowship with the Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2005. He was awarded membership from the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (MCSSANZ) after completing further post-fellowship colorectal surgery training at Concord Hospital in Sydney and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide. Dr Lam had further sub-specialty training in laparoscopic colorectal surgery at the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in Hong Kong and is an accredited robotic surgeon. He was granted the CSSANZ international travelling fellowship to visit St Mark’s Hospital, the Royal London Hospital and the St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, UK in 2007. Dr Lam obtained his PhD in Colorectal Cancer Proteomics at the University of Sydney in 2008. He was the recipient of the Prince of Wales Clinical School Award in 2018 for his outstanding service to the University of NSW.
He is a consultant colorectal surgeon at Prince of Wales Public and Private Hospitals, the Royal Hospital for Women and Double Bay Day Hospital. He is also a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the University of NSW.
